Hackathon w/150 students solving issues around Aid and Disaster Tech - Shalom Chaveruth Solidarity Project

State Secretary for International Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia Dr. Speich attended a hackathon on February 13th in Beer Sheva hosted at the Open University Beer Sheva and created in cooperation with JADDE, the city of Bochum and Tech 7.

The “Classroom Halle” in the Negev Desert of Israel

Since the brutal attack on Israel by the Hamas on October 7th, 2023, the Ramat HaNegev High School south of Beer Sheva has been home to over 80 evacuated students and teachers from the Gaza envelope. For the small regional school with originally 300 students, this meant a sudden, enormous increase. In this situation, the still young school partnership (since 2022) with the Halle High School (KGH) in the Gütersloh district (North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany) was able to prove itself: via the NRW state program "Shalom - Chaveruth - Solidarity Partnerships North Rhine-Westphalia - Israel" (hebr. peace and friendship”), funds were quickly and unbureaucratically made available for four additional container classrooms in which the young people can study now.

Visiting the Shimon Peres High Tech and Arts High School in Tel Aviv-Yafo

A visit to an impressive school - the Shimon Peres High Tech and Arts High School in the south of Tel Aviv-Yafo, where 1,300 students learn in a modern and trusting environment. The usual classes take place between robotics, software development and film production classes.

State government launches reconstruction project for Israeli municipalities near the Gaza Strip

The NRW Government has launched a recovery project to enable local government in North Rhine-Westphalia to join the effort to rebuild Israeli partner municipalities that are located close to the Gaza Strip.
