Visiting the Shimon Peres High Tech and Arts High School in Tel Aviv-Yafo

Visiting the Shimon Peres High Tech and Arts High School in Tel Aviv-Yafo

A visit to an impressive school - the Shimon Peres High Tech and Arts High School in the south of Tel Aviv-Yafo, where 1,300 students learn in a modern and trusting environment. The usual classes take place between robotics, software development and film production classes.

135 teachers support the students, including 300 who moved to Israel from Russia and Ukraine last year alone. Due to Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, students from the evacuated areas around the Gaza Strip are now also learning at the school. A special team of educators and psychologists look after the 70 students.

At the beginning of the year on January 4th, 2024, Dr. Gil Yaron, director of the office and team assistant Anna Taube visited the school in southern Tel Aviv following the invitation by Rachel Tal, coordinator of the Amal School Network, which the Shimon Peres High School belongs to. Principal Max Sivan shows us how he reinvented the school six years ago. With a modern and open design, the school looks like an inviting place to be and learn in. Part of the idea of this open architecture of the school is, among other things, to provide office space to companies and start-ups.

Ideas for collaboration are exchanged - in addition to Arabic and French, German is also taught at the school. The school is already part of the PASCH initiative. The NRW Office also wants to help the school find possible partners as part of the new project “Shalom – Chaveruth: Solidarity Partnerships NRW-Israel”. Interested schools from North Rhine-Westphalia are invited to get in touch with us! Start-ups that would like to take advantage of the dynamic energy of a school full of curious young people are also invited to contact us or the school.
